Kremsnita (Vanilla Cream Slice)

Ingredients:
1 puff pastry sheet
1 egg
1/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup heavy cream

Method:
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

2. On a lightly floured surface, roll pastry to a 1/8-in.-thick (3-mm-) sheet. Trim even with edge of pan.

3. Line pan with pastry. Trim pastry even with edge of pan. Prick pastry several times with fork. Bake for 8 minutes. Cool on a wire rack.

4. In a small bowl, whisk together egg, sugar, flour and vanilla.

5. In a large bowl, beat cream until stiff peaks form.

6. Fold egg mixture into cream.

7. Spread over crust.

8. Bake for 15 minutes. Cool on a wire rack.

-Try using a different type of pastry for a different flavor
-Add some fruit on top of the cream for extra flavor
– experiment with different extracts or spices in the egg mixture
