Uzvar
Ingredients
1 cup (250 ml) of dried fruits (apples, pears, plums, apricots, etc.)
2-3 tablespoons of honey
1 tablespoon of sugar
1 cinnamon stick
1 tablespoon of lemon juice
Method
1) Soak the dried fruits in cold water for 2-3 hours.
2) Drain the fruits and add them to a saucepan with the honey, sugar, cinnamon stick and lemon juice.
3) Cook over a low heat for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
4) Remove from the heat and allow to cool. Serve chilled or at room temperature.
Potential changes & improvements
– You could add other spices such as cloves or nutmeg.
– You could use a different type of sugar such as brown sugar.
– You could add a splash of rum or brandy.

– Serve Uzvar with pancakes, waffles or porridge.
