Potential changes & improvements
-You could add other vegetables to the dish, such as carrots or celery.
-If you want a more traditional Slovenian dish, you could add some sour cream to the finished šampita.
What other food it works well with
Šampita goes well with a side of bread, as well as a green salad.
Common Mistakes
-One common mistake is to not fry the potatoes long enough in the bacon fat. This will result in a less flavourful dish.
-Another mistake is to add too much water to the pot. The potatoes should be covered, but there should not be too much water.
