Vegan Cauliflower Buffalo Wings

These cauliflower wings are the perfect vegan alternative to traditional buffalo wings. They are crispy, flavourful and perfect for dipping!

  • 1 head of cauliflower, cut into florets
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of paprika
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 cup of hot sauce
  • 1/4 cup of vegan butter

  1. Preheat the oven to 230°C (450°F).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the flour, water, garlic powder, paprika, salt and pepper.
  3. Add the cauliflower florets and toss to coat.
  4. Spread the cauliflower onto a baking sheet and bake for 25 minutes.
  5. In a small saucepan, melt the vegan butter and hot sauce together.
  6. When the cauliflower is done, remove from the oven and toss with the hot sauce mixture.
  7. Serve immediately with your favourite dipping sauce.

Potential changes & improvements

If you want a bit more of a kick, you can add more hot sauce to the mixture. For a milder version, use less hot sauce or substitute with BBQ sauce. You could also add some chopped celery and blue cheese dressing for a traditional buffalo wing experience.

What other food it works well with

These wings are great on their own as a appetizer or snack. They would also be great as part of a main meal served with a salad and some roasted potatoes.

Common Mistakes

The most common mistake people make when making this dish is not coating the cauliflower evenly with the flour mixture. Be sure to toss the cauliflower until all of the pieces are evenly coated.
